Despite spending about three years in office illegally; ADSU management allegedly lobbied Fintiri for fresh appointment.
The current management staff of Adamawa state university, Mubi is currently lobbying Gov. Umar Fintiri of Adamawa state to return to office through the newly inaugurated governing council of the university The Finder Newspaper has learnt.
According to a university management source, the management staff are putting finishing touches that will see them through even though an advert is placed for all the vacant positions of the management of the university any moment from now.
“I was reliably informed by a management staff of the university that they have secured a promise from a close ally of the governor as far as the office of the Vice Chancellor is concern, the source told this news medium that a top management staff of the university has the backing of a Vice chancellor of a federal university which is a close confidant of the governor and also has backing of a popular traditional ruler from the southern senatorial district of Adamawa to lobbied the governor to approve their appointments when the governing council forward the names of the three most qualified candidates to the governor for approval for the office of the Vice Chancellor.
“some of us are in dilemma over the so called assurance given to some of the management staff of the university by the so called ally of the governor in view of that fact that approving the continuous staying in office of any of the current management of ADSU by the governor will amount to tenure elongation as we expect the governor to take into cognisance the cultural and the religious diversity in the state’
It is on record that from 2012 till date, the office of the Vice chancellor is occupied by people from same religious background, we expect the governor to look inward this time as what is good for the geese is also good for the gander” the source argued
The Finder reports that the current acting vice chancellor of Adamawa state university, Mubi Prof. Kaletapwa George Farauta was appointed in 2017, an office she continue to occupy in defiant of the law setting up the university and the universally accepted two terms of three months allow for any acting appointment.
