Cracks in Adamawa APC deepen as PCC, SWC moves against Binani over campaign venue.

The crisis in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa over the venue for the start of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidential campaign got worse over the weekend. Some party members moved against Aishatu Dahiru, the party’s candidate for governor of Adamawa, because she chose to use private property at the start of the campaign.

Binani, who is at the epicentre of the crisis, is said to be in a running battle with the party’s state working committee and presidential campaign council in Adamawa. Sources say she has turned the entire campaign into a one-woman show and has reported abandoning all members of the party’s state working committee over alleged allegations of loyalty to Nuhu Ribadu.

The Finder learned that the recent development has unsettled the State Working Committee (NWC) of the party and PCC members in Adamawa.

A source told The Finder that the last letter that was leaked, which was said to have been written by the chairman of the presidential campaign council, Engr. Martins Babale, and asked for Ribadu Square to be used as a campaign venue instead of the makeshift stadium set up by Aishatu Binani, was the last straw that broke the camel’s back.

In the letter, Babale is said to have asked Governor Fintiri of Adamawa State for permission for the president and his group to use Ribadu Square.

Speaking to our reporter in Yola, a member of the PCC in Adamawa who pleaded anonymity said, “There is currently a sharp division in the inner caucus of Binani and the state working committee of the party on the one hand and the PCC on the other over the use of Ribadu Square and the running of the party affairs in Adamawa. “”While Binani is keeping everything to herself, the PCC and the SWC felt sidelined by the governorship candidate of the party in Adamawa,” a source told The Finder.

It was, however, learned that the bad blood between Biani, PCC, and SWC started weeks after the June governorship primary, when the party SWC openly declared support for Nuhu Ribadu.

“Since Binani’s sudden emergence, attempts by party leaders to mediate and close ranks between the SWC, PCC, and Binani have failed,” the source said.

A close ally of Binani, who is also a member of APC PCC, told The Finder: “The gubernatorial candidate of the party in Adamawa has not managed the crisis well. She didn’t even bring the members of the party’s state working committee with her from the start.

Binani can’t sit back and let that continue. The party has yet to reconcile with disgruntled members of its membership. Former governorship aspirants are still at loggerheads with the party, and Binani is unable to fix that.

“Instead, she’s so focused on the launch of her campaign that she acts as if that’s all she was elected to do.” Binani must let go of her ego if the APC is to win. Her visit to ASO Rock can’t guarantee the success of the party in next year’s general elections.

“Right now, she doesn’t have the support of the SWC and PCC in Adamawa.

“Almost all the governorship aspirants of the party, including the state working committee of the party, are not openly supporting Binani.” What has she done about it?

“As we speak, many senators and members of the House of Representatives, are not working for us.” “We are getting bad press, and SWC is doing nothing.”

“We’ll see which of the two campaign venues the president will use next week, Ribadu Square or the makeshift venue built by Binani,” the source said.
