Sen. Binta Masi lied; Kano constituency was under-reviewed due to threats allegedly made by collation officials.
Senator Binta Masi’s assertion that INEC is revisiting the results of a federal constituency in Kano due to overvoting or circumventing the BVAS is incorrect, according to an investigation by THE FINDER.
Senator Binta Masi’s assertion that INEC is revisiting the results of a federal constituency in Kano due to overvoting or circumventing the BVAS is incorrect, according to an investigation by THE FINDER.
Ms. Binta’s assertion that INEC review results from various local governments in Abia are due to overvoting is also false, as our findings demonstrate.
Binta Masi was caught on television making fraudulent statements about the governorship elections in Adamawa, claiming that INEC examined results in Kano and Abia.
Secondly, when comparing INEC rulings in Kano and Abia, Binta Masi was frugal with the truth. INEC is looking into a federal constituency in Kano after its collation officials wrote a letter alleging intimidation in pronouncing APC candidate Doguwa the winner of the votes.
Like Fufore in Adamawa, the Obingwa local government council was the centre of attention in Abia. INEC, in her wisdom, chose to utilise her IREV to check votes from Obingwa, and it was determined that PDP inflated votes just like APC inflated votes up 37,000 in Fufore, despite INEC’s IREV showing otherwise.
Binta also says Bola Tinubu was the first governor to appoint a female deputy, which is also untrue; Sir Michael Otedola, not Bola Tinubu, was the first governor to appoint a female deputy in Lagos.
Conclusion: Binta Masi’s television interview was riddled with lies and half-truths.
