Governor Fintiri Congratulates Jamila, First Female Adamawa Navy Admiral
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, has congratulated Jamila Sadiq Malafa on her elevation to the rank of Rear Admiral, the first in the entire Northern area to be thus elevated by the Nigerian Navy.
Admiral Jamila of Gombi Local Government Area was officially decorated by the Chief of Naval Staff in Abuja.
In a statement by his chief press secretary, Humwashi Wonosoiku, the governor said
“Admiral Jamila had demonstrated her worth over the years and her latest promotion was well-deserved and an inspiration to those women aspiring to careers in the military”.
Fintiri remarked that Admiral Jamila had earned her promotion after years of hard work, and that she should serve as an example to other women who aspire to achieve similar success.
“I have no doubt that this formidable Adamawa native, Rear Admiral Jamila, deserves to wear this crown.
She has a demonstrated track record of excellence in the Navy, having risen through the ranks to the peak of the profession “declared the governor.She has a long history of accomplishment in the Navy that has led to her current position of prominence “as our governor put it.
Governor Fintiri challenged the state’s first high-ranking commander to use her wealth of knowledge to advance not only the Navy, but also the Nigerian military and the state. Governor Fintiri urged the state’s first female admiral to use her extensive background to help steer the Navy, the Nigerian military, and the state forward.
The military’s position as protector of the state and its interests in a democracy requires “greater circumspection and development,” he said, and “I urge you to regard your elevation as one that comes at a time in our national life when we need the military to be more circumspect and developmental.”
The governor congratulated the admiral on her promotion and wished her continued success in the Navy.
