Group calls for the removal of Adamawa’s resident electoral commissioner, Yunusa Ari, ahead of the governorship election rerun as plans to allocate votes are uncovered.
The group said it was clear that Yunusa would be baised in the rerun of the governorship election in the state slated for April 15.
A group, Sunshine Development Group, called for the redeployment of Adamawa Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Yunusa Ari.
In a statement released in Yola, the group asked the National Chairman of INEC to change Yunusa Ari’s position before the April 15 election for governor.
The statement was signed by the group’s secretary, Olusegun Abayomi, and spokesperson, Muktar Abubakar.
The statement reads, “SDG, rising from an emergency virtual meeting, resolved to call for the immediate removal of the Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC as his continued oversight of INEC affairs in Adamawa State portends great danger to the existing calm and peace enjoyed here.”
“It is instructive to note that the refusal to redeploy Mr. Yunusa implies that the INEC headquarters have concluded plans to stir the still waters in the state and influence the next gubernatorial elections in Adamawa.”
If the allocation of votes was revealed in the March 28 governorship polls in Adamawa, the same tactics of vote allocation have been revealed.
“We are asking INEC Chairman Mahmood to move Mr. Yunusa right away because it is now clear that he won’t be fair in the upcoming governorship election.”
