Adamawa college of Nursing: Lami to Periscope, MGM time: retract false accusations or face legal repercussions.

Dr. Lami, provost of Adamawa State College of Nursing and Midwifery, and her family have demanded that the publisher of a local tabloid base in Adamawa, Periscope, and MGM Times, issue a public apology within seven days or face legal action.

Lami, in a letter written to the publisher of Periscope on May 15, 2023, by his counsel, Barr, Ejembi, claimed that an alleged sponsored opinion and a story written by MGM Time and Periscope on Thursday, May 11th, and Saturday, May 13th, 2023, “at the instance of one Muhammad Dodo” had harmed her reputation.

“The sponsored press release, which was entirely focused on the person of Dr. Lami and her sons, made very astonishing, unsubstantiated allegations against the provost relating to the issue of her son raping and kidnapping one Miss Fauziya, and also allege that the provost has run the institution aground, and also allege that the provost’s son impersonates a DSS official,” the Provost’s lawyer stated in the letter.

He emphasised that the allegations as a whole show that his client is deeply involved in the alleged rape scandal, and that the tabloids portray Faisal as the provost’s son as a predator and kidnapper.

“The only inference to draw from the unproven allegations, which were informed by a dangerously cultivated, albeit unwarranted malice against the provost, was to demand a retraction, an apology, and a N10 billion payment for aggravated damages against the person of Dr. Lami,” the letter continued.
