Governor Fintiri Calls for Calm After Military-Police Clashes

After Tuesday night’s terrible gunfire in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State, Governor Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri urged the people of the state to keep calm and carry on with their normal lives.

The governor’s principal press secretary, Humwashi Wonosoiku, released a statement in which he rejected the occurrence as “at this time of peace building” and pleaded for security agents to be tolerant and accommodating.

Governor Fintiri expressed remorse for the unfortunate occurrence that escalated into the conflict between soldiers and police, assured the public that the government is fully engaged in the matter, and urged all parties involved to remain calm for the sake of maintaining peace in the state.

Governor Fintiri has issued a stern warning to all security officers on special assignment, urging them to maintain composure and professionalism at all times.

“I am worried that this animosity could damage the fragile peace we have worked so hard to establish,” he said.I implore all members of the security force to maintain composure, treat each other with dignity and respect, and be tolerant of one another because we are all here to serve this great state. As the government seeks long-term resolutions to these disputes, I beg for your understanding and patience.
