Mangu Placed Under 24-Hour Curfew by Plateau Gov.
As a result of the worsening security situation in the area, Governor Caleb Mutfwang has instituted an immediate 24-hour curfew on the Mangu Local Government Area in Plateau State, North Central Nigeria.
To prevent a collapse of law and order in the local government region, the decision was made after negotiations with key security agencies, according to a press statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Gyang Bere.
Bere announced that until further notice, all inhabitants, particularly those residing in Mangu, are enjoined to remain at home and only those with absolutely necessary business may leave the local government territory.
In spite of the government’s attempts to put a stop to the actions of terrorist elements, the governor expressed his regret that some individuals remain intent on sowing discord in the state.
On behalf of the administration, he offered condolences to the victims’ families and promised to work tirelessly to bring about permanent peace in the state.
As soon as the local security situation improved, he vowed to reassess the curfew.
