Ondo Assembly confirms Adelami as Aiyedatiwa’s deputy.
Through the process of screening and ratification, the Ondo State House of Assembly has appointed Olayide Adelami, a former Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly, to the position of Deputy Governor of the state.
Benjamin Jaiyeola, the Clerk of the House, read the nomination letter that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa had submitted to the House on Wednesday. The appointment was announced at a plenary session that took place on Thursday and was presided over by Olamide Oladiji, the Speaker of the House.
Adelami has been certified to be a man of reputable character, well exposed, and also physically and psychologically fit for the post, according to the report that was submitted by the screening committee. This was mentioned by the Deputy Speaker, Abayomi Akinruntan, who was responsible for submitting the report.
Adelami expressed his gratitude to the governor for granting him the opportunity to serve the state in his response.
He highlighted that his nomination was a call of duty and pledged to strive for the development of Ondo State and the country as a whole over the course of his tenure.
Additionally, he pledged that he would work to foster a good relationship between the legislative and executive branches of the state government.
During his speech, the Speaker of the House made a commitment to ensure that the legislative branch will always provide the necessary support to the executive branch. It was emphasised by him that the groundwork had been laid for the rapid development of Ondo State, which had been made possible by the confirmation of Dr. Adelami.
Following the passing of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu on December 27, 2023, Aiyedatiwa was sworn in as the governor of Ondo. As his deputy, he chose a member of the Akeredolu family who was from Owo.
