Adamawa coup: Fintiri vows to prosecute junta leader Hudu Yunusa Ari.
The Adamawa State Government, led by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, pledged on Monday to prosecute renegade REC Hudu Yunusa Ari and his accomplice for their involvement in the failed civilian coup during the state’s 2023 governorship election.
In a state broadcast, Governor Fintiri stated that now that the Supreme Court has declared him the winner of the 2023 governorship elections in Adamawa, it is time to bring to justice those who orchestrated the failed civil coup that resulted in the illegal declaration of the All Progressive Congress’ candidate, Aishatu Binani.
The Finder reports that the rogue REC, Hudu Yunusa, slipped into the collation centre prior to the reconevention time to declare Binani the winner in a failed civil coup plot to depose the election winner, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
The statement read, “I remained calm when the coup attempts to steal my mandate failed.” Even when the criminals had the audacity and shamelessness to go to court seeking what they had failed to forcefully take, my behaviour remained consistent.
I don’t search for what isn’t mine. But I have a wealth of patience and courage to protect what is properly mine from any predator.
This describes my political path. Even when agitated, my spirit follows a path that brings all of my senses together in one spot. I give all credit to God for where we are now.
The Supreme Court’s decision on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, formally ended all speculation about the 2023 election in Adamawa State. The days of lying and deception are finished. The days of false propaganda and cheap words are over.
Governor Fintiri commended Adamawa voters for their support throughout the elections and in court, as well as his party, the People’s Democratic Party, his legal team, and the Independent National Electoral Commission, which remained steadfast in righting the wrongs of the renegade REC Hudu Yunusa Ari.”
He promised to continue his development plan in order to provide a new Adamawa before his second term expired.
