Governor Fintiri imposes transborder trading ban on building materials.
The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has barred the transfer of construction materials across border towns connecting Adamawa State.
According to Humwashi Wonosoiku, the governor’s principal press secretary, the action was one of the factors contributing to the increase in building material prices.
He also directed all security services operating in border communities to intensify monitoring and prohibit trucks from carrying huge amounts of building materials to surrounding countries.
The government will not hesitate to impound vehicles moving such things across the border, and anyone found to be in breach of the law would face prosecution, according to Fintiri.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri expressed concern over the activities of Nigerians who lack patriotism, and the public was encouraged to help security agencies confront the menace.
