Army confirms small explosion in Ikeja Cantonment field.
On Monday, a small explosion was reported in a farmland close to the Mammy Market in Lagos’s Ikeja Cantonment, according to the Nigerian Army.
Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the head of the Army’s public relations, made this announcement in Abuja.
According to Nwachukwu, the farmer who farmed the area is believed to have been responsible for starting the explosion by burning garbage and other combustible materials.
According to him, no casualties were reported during the incident.
Although the cantonment has been cleared and confirmed free of unexploded ordnances, we acknowledge that the public may have worries due to the history of explosions there.
The Nigerian army wants the public to know that they have the situation under control. An explosives disposal squad called Engineers Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) has roped off the area of the farms to investigate the explosion.
He assured locals that they were safe and urged them not to fear.
