Governor Mbah Promises To Track Down Police Officer Killers In Enugu
Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has promised to take all required action to find the people behind the Friday night killing of two police officers in Enugu.
The South-East state would not put up with such acts of violence against personnel of security agencies, Governor Mbah declared to reporters on Saturday.
“We cannot condone this cold-blooded action in Enugu State,” he declared. Those who kill our police officers, or in fact any of our security personnel, could believe that their wicked conduct has been successful.
Let me tell them that we will pursue them with all of our resources. We shall follow them, apprehend them, and vanquish them by using all available technology and forces.
“With security agency backing, Enugu State is going to make life uncomfortable for those who do not want to live in a decent society.”
Two Enugu State policemen were shot dead by armed thugs who appeared to be members of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its military wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
State police spokesman Daniel Ndukwe said that on Friday night, men driving three SUV jeeps unexpectedly attacked the agents who were doing a standard stop-and-search along Presidential Road in Enugu.
According to him, Kanayo Uzuegbu, the Commissioner of Police, has given the command the order to use its operational, tactical, and intelligence resources in order to continue the current operations to find and apprehend the criminal elements.
