61-year-old former EFCC chairman Lamorde passes away.
Ibrahim Lamorde, 61, a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has passed away in Egypt.
Lamorde passed away on Sunday in Egypt, where he had flown for medical care.On Sunday morning, Lamorde’s family and EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale could not be reached for remarks.
Born on December 20, 1962, Lamorde became a member of the Nigerian Police in 1986 and left the force in 2021 as Deputy Inspector General of Police.
Between 2011 and 2015, while working as a police officer, he presided over the EFCC as chairman.
As to his EFCC page on the website, Lamorde served as the Commission’s third executive chairman.
He was named chairman of the commission on November 3, 2011, by former President Goodluck Jonathan, acting.
He became the third substantive chairman of the commission when the Senate confirmed him on February 15, 2012.
