Adamawa ALGON elects new chairman.
The Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Adamawa State Chapter, has elected Mr. Suleiman Gangkuba of the Toungo Council as its new chairman.
All local government chairmen in the state unanimously elected Gangkuba on Monday, after Abdulasalam Gidado, the immediate past ALGON Chairman, completed his term.
In a statement, the chief press secretary to the governor, Humwashi Wonosoiku, quoted the governor, saying that his expectation from the council chairmen is transparency and accountability in the discharge of their responsibilities.
He also advised them to maintain decorum and uphold the trust placed in them.
The Governor congratulated the new officials after their election, which took place on Monday, shortly after the swearing-in of the newly elected Local Government Chairmen.
The Governor emphasized that Adamawa’s local governments received autonomy five years ago, even before the Supreme Court’s ruling, and he urged the new officials to make the most of this independence to build on the accomplishments of their predecessors and effectively serve their communities.
“As the new ALGON executives, you have a great task ahead of you, and I wish you success in your endeavors,” Governor Fintiri said.
