Emir of Kano condemns looting in NCC Park and cautions against future incidents.

Muhammadu Sanusi II, Emir of Kano, has criticised the demolition and robbery of the Nigeria Communication Commission’s (NCC) Industrial Park in Kano.

Hoodlums assaulted and set fire to the building on Thursday, during a nationwide demonstration against economic hardship.

A day after the incident, Sanusi condemned the youths’ actions, stressing that such destruction of public assets should not happen again.

“Today is a terrible day for Kano residents because of what happened in the state. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the entire Kano community, he stated during a press briefing on Friday.

“What happened was inexcusable, and the people of Kano must ensure that it does not happen again.

“The agents of destruction would hijack peaceful demonstrations and use that opportunity to cause mayhem, cause loss of life, and destroy properties.”

The king voiced concern over the looting and vandalism of public and private property as a result of the protest, which was advertised as a peaceful rally against hunger and hardship in the country.

The Emir described what happened as a setback for the state, the northern area, and the country as a whole.

He continued, “The young people who died are our children. Kano residents own the destroyed and stolen possessions.

“These funds are intended to be used for poverty relief, education, and nutrition.”

The Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) established the digital centre of excellence to educate our kids, give digital training, and prepare them for exams.

“The minister was supposed to come in next week to commission the centre. We vandalised and ruined the centre, wasting millions of naira. I urge Kano residents to avoid repeating yesterday’s actions or falling for deceptions that promote such mayhem.
