No directive yet on N70,000 minimum wage for corps members—NYSC
The National Youth Service Corps has refuted a social media report claiming that corps members’ bank accounts are being upgraded to accommodate the new national minimum wage of N70,000.
The corps has clarified that it is currently awaiting a directive from the relevant authority regarding the payment of the N70,000 minimum wage to corps members or any upgrades to their accounts.
In a statement released on Saturday, the NYSC Director of Information and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, strongly refuted the report, labelling it as entirely false and misleading.
Thus, the NYSC strongly urges corps members to be vigilant and avoid falling prey to individuals who seek to manipulate their intellect for personal gain.
The National Youth Service Corps management has expressed concern over the circulation of misleading information in the media regarding the payment of the N70,000 minimum wage to corps members and the directive to upgrade their accounts. This statement is completely untrue and far from reality.
“Corps members, parents, and the general public should be informed that there have been no directives issued by the relevant government sector in charge of wage matters.”
As a result, the NYSC is unable to offer any details regarding this issue. Corps members are already aware of the approved channel and mode of communication in the scheme, so they should simply disregard the directive as necessary.
The NYSC has issued a warning to corps members, urging them to avoid supporting individuals who seek to deceive Nigerians and take advantage of their intelligence.
Bloggers and social media influencers have been advised to refrain from making statements regarding the management of the National Youth Service Corps without proper authorisation.
