Governor Fintiri rolls out 31 luxurious buses, distributes fifty thousand naira to ten thousand women.
The Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has handed thirty-one buses and fifty thousand naira each to ten thousand women to alleviate the burden of transport and poverty in the state.
On Thursday, during the hand over ceremony of the 31 buses to operators and the unveiling of the second Fintiri wallet empowerment in the state capital, the governor announced that the state government is ready to engage more civil servants.
According to the governor, as part of its 8 Agenda Development Plan, his administration has allocated 31 buses to all 21 local governments and government tertiary institutions in Adamawa.
He stated, “We have launched the Fintiri Business Wallet for our women. This is a commerce corridor that reaffirms our commitment to combating poverty and connects thousands of our homes to life-saving enterprises and opportunities.
The corridor’s purposeful emphasis on women distinguishes it from other products. The corridor has empowered 10,000 women petty traders throughout 21 local government areas, beginning with a grant of ₦50,000 each.
Today, we are disbursing an additional ₦50,000 to each women in the second batch of recipients to support of start trading.
Fintiri stated, “Through our ICT-for-Empowerment corridor, we are preparing over 100,000 youths for survival.” We tested the intra- and intercity mass transit system earlier this year by deploying ten deluxe buses, which helped to ease the burden of transportation hardship on our people.
After observing the benefits of mass public transport, we decided to expand the program by purchasing an additional 31 deluxe mass transit vehicles.
Today, I am pleased to inform you that I am transferring these buses to their respective operators for deployment on our highways and use by our people.
He emphasised the importance of institutionalising poverty alleviation in Adamawa state under his watch.
