Minimum wage: Gov. Fintiri delivers on his promises as Adamawa workers smile to the bank.
Workers in Adamawa State are celebrating the payment of the new N70,000 minimum salary, which President Bola Tinubu signed into law.
Despite concerns raised by numerous governors regarding the fiscal viability of the increased wage, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has begun paying Adamawa State employees in August 2024.
The increased minimum wage will also apply to local government employees beginning in September 2024.
Adamawa’s public personnel have widely applauded the move, which makes it the first northern state to implement the new minimum wage.
Multiple sources have reported that Adamawa State’s new N70,000 minimum wage is now in effect.
Musa Mohammed, a staff member of the Adamawa State Post Primary Board who spoke with our correspondent, stated that he is currently at level 8 and was shocked to receive twice his prior wage.
He clarified: “I woke up this morning and discovered that I received 112,000 naira, which is a miracle to me to this day.”
