EFCC Returns $180,300, 53 Cars Recovered From Fraudsters To Canada

The 53 automobiles and $180,300 that were taken by fraudsters have been turned over to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Theft of assets occurred with Canadian people.

The Commission Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, made the announcement when the assets were being transferred to Abuja.

A Canadian woman named Elena Bogomas lost $164,000 and Sandra Butler 16,300 in a romance fraud, according to his report.

The recoveries, according to Olukoyede, are the product of collaboration between Nigerian and international anti-corruption agencies.

Today, we are here to observe the transfer of assets that have been recovered on behalf of cybercrime victims in Canada. Olukoyede reported that the surgeries, which lasted for a few years, led to a significant improvement.

We must assure our friends and colleagues in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the government of Nigeria are prepared to combat financial crimes at any time. There is more to Nigeria than meets the eye when it comes to financial crimes. People go here from one jurisdiction to another, making it a transit town similar to Canada and the majority of countries worldwide.

“The government of Nigeria will never abide financial crime, and this is proof of that.”

“In total, we recovered 53 vehicles on behalf of the victims,” said he. In a single incident, Elena lost $1.6k and $16k. These will be returned to the victims by the Canadian police after they receive them.

Victims of financial crimes will be investigated, prosecuted, and their assets would be recovered, according to the EFCC Chairman.
