Announcing the results at the headquarters of the council in Minna, the Niger State capital, on Thursday, NECO Registrar, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, said 1,376,436 candidates sat for the examination and that the results are coming about two months after the final examination.

Other details of the results showed that 83.9% of the candidates who sat for the examination earned five credits and above, irrespective of English language and mathematics.

Wushishi also gave a further breakdown of candidates involved in malpractices in the 2024 internal examination. He said 8,407, indicating a decrease from 12,030 in the 2023 exam.

“We conducted the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) from Wednesday 19th June to Friday 26th July, 2024, and the marking exercise took place from Monday 19th August to Sunday 8th September, 2024.”

He stated, “Today marks 55 days after the last written paper, indicating the successful conclusion of all the processes leading to the release of the 2024 SSCE Internal results.”

The NECO boss presented the highlights of the results.

“The number of candidates registered for the examination is 1,376,423, representing 706,950 males and 669,473 females.

“There were 1,367,736 candidates who sat, representing 702,112 males and 665,624 females.”

“The number of candidates with five credits and above, including English and Mathematics, is 828,284, representing 60.55%.

The number of candidates with five credits or more, irrespective of
English and Mathematics is 1,147,597, representing 83.90%.”

He said that during the examination, 40 schools were found to have been involved in mass cheating in 17 states, adding that they will face a panel and appropriate sanctions will be applied.

Similarly, Wushishi said the Council has recommended the blacklisting of 21 supervisors for extortion and drunkenness.
