Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, has been criticised by Nyesom Wike, who has retaliated by calling him a serial loser.

Atiku criticised the local government elections in Rivers State and its former governor, Wike, who is now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Atiku claimed that the fact that the Action Peoples Party (APP) took home 22 of the 23 positions for local government chairman showed that the people had rejected Wike.

But the minister then claimed that, following Atiku’s defeats as the PDP presidential candidate in 2019 and 2023, Nigerians had rejected him.

No one from our party ever ran for office at the municipal level. Were we involved in the contest for the Riverside LG office? Was the form selected? It was Atiku Abubakar who said, “Oh, I’ve been rejected in Rivers State.” Which I overheard. At a luncheon he hosted on Saturday in commemoration of the 10th Legislative Assembly of Rivers State, Wike addressed the fact that Nigerians had rejected him and assumed, without conceding, that he had lost numerous times.

We accept the fact that the Nigerian people have rejected us if you claim that we did not run for office or take part in any elections. The people of Nigeria have rejected you because of your disastrous campaign, so you should just pack up and leave.
