Tinubu appoints six ministers, including Bianca Odumegu-Ojukwu.
On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu finally started his long-awaited cabinet change by firing five ministers and nominating seven new ones to be confirmed by the Senate.
Additionally, seven ministers were nominated by the president and are awaiting confirmation by the Senate. Ten ministers were reassigned to new ministries.
The presidency of suspended Betta Edu was formally ended by Tinubu’s nomination of Bianca Odumegu-Ojukwu to the position of minister of state for foreign affairs and of humanitarian affairs and poverty reduction to Nentawe Yilwatda.
The President has also appointed the following ministers: Jumoke Oduwole to the position of minister of industry, Idi Maiha to the newly formed ministry of livestock development, Yusuf Ata to the position of minister of state for housing and urban development, and Suwaiba Ahmad to the position of minister of state education. Maigari Dingyadi has been nominated for this position.
In a surprising move, the president removed many ministers from their positions: Uju-Ken Ohanenye from the ministry of women’s affairs, Lola Ade-John from tourism, Tahir Mamman from education, Abdullahi Gwarzo from state, housing, and urban development, and Jamila Ibrahim from youth development.
The president extended his gratitude to the departing members of the federal executive council for their dedicated service to the country and best wishes for their future pursuits.
