Tinubu Restricts Ministers To Three-Vehicle Convoys
Ministers and heads of ministries and organisations are now limited to no more than three vehicles in their official convoys as President Bola Tinubu’s administration tries to minimise costs.
They will not be receiving any more vehicles for transportation, according to a statement issued Thursday by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga.
A maximum of five security people are to be attached to each minister, minister of state, and head of agency under Tinubu’s instruction.
“Four law enforcement personnel and one officer from the Department of State Services (DSS) will make up the security detail.
He told us, “We will not assign any additional security personnel.”
In order to find an appropriate reduction in the deployment of vehicles and security personnel, the President directed Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser (NSA), to consult with the military, paramilitary, and security services.
According to Onanuga, “We expect all affected officials to comply with these new measures immediately, underscoring the urgency and seriousness of these changes.”
The president cut the number of staffers accompanying him on international travels earlier this month, from fifty to twenty. He cut the number of officials going on local trips to 25.
In a similar vein, he pared down Vice President Kashim Shettima’s retinue to 15 for domestic travels and 5 for international ones.
