Cabals in Tinubu’s government are more dangerous, sophisticated than Buhari’s. – Dalung

The ex-minister claims that while the cabals around Buhari were not well-educated, the powerbrokers supporting Tinubu are cunning and deadly.

Solomon Dalung, former Youth and Sports Minister, believes the cabals surrounding President Bola Tinubu are more dangerous than the clique around former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The former minister spoke on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday.

Dalung, a minister during Buhari’s administration, claimed Buhari was a stranger in his government after cabal members took over the administration.

According to the ex-minister, while members of the cabals behind Buhari are not highly educated, the powerbrokers around Tinubu are clever, ambitious, and educated, with a thorough understanding of power dynamics.

Dalung emphasised the ability of Tinubu’s cabal members to manage power, erect barricades around the president, and suppress information and human traffic.

In July 2024, Tinubu, who narrowly won a closely contested election in February 2023 and was sworn in on May 29, 2023, stated that he was not accountable to any cabal or moneybag.

However, Dalung stated, “Of sure, President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has cabals. That is known, and I have attested to it. But I’m arguing that President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabals were made up of people who were underinformed and had little expertise in politics, public administration, and government. As a result, their activities were mostly limited to their narrow interpretation of power dynamics and trading hands in order to benefit from the public purse.

“But President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s cabal is made up of sophisticated and ambitious individuals with a long history of power. They are experienced and educated, so they have a solid understanding of what power is.

“And because they are an ambitious group of people, the presidency will suffer more than that of President Muhammadu Buhari because of their ability to manipulate power, to build a security barricade around the president and stifle information from reaching the president except that which they desired, and to control those who would want to access the president.

“These cabals are masters, and therefore, are more dangerous than any cabal in the history of this country.”
