Oborevwori seeks Ibori to join APC.
Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has stated that former Governor James Ibori will be cordially welcomed into the All Progressives Congress if he chooses to join.
Oborevwori, who officially defected to the APC on Monday alongside former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and all Delta State Peoples Democratic Party members, urged Ibori to follow suit.
Although Ibori has been working for the APC for the past two years, he has yet to formally declare his defection.
Oborevwori stressed the importance of unity among the Urhobo political class during a vigil mass in honour of the state’s former deputy governor, Professor Amos Utuama, held on Tuesday at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Otu-Jeremi, in the Ughelli South Local Government Area.
He clarified, “We will welcome former Governor James Ibori to our party, the APC.”
The governor paid glowing tribute to the late Prof. Amos Utuama, praising his selfless service and saying, “I am thrilled to be here today, seeing this large gathering for one man.” Today’s message is about the living, not the dead.
Oborevwori prayed that Utuama’s passing would bring peace and togetherness to Ughelli South and the entire Urhobo people.
He praised Utuama’s merits, adding that he lived a meaningful life: “He lived well and died well.”
