8,000 terrorists, bandits killed under Tinubu – Defence Minister

Bello Matawalle, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, claims that under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, 8,000 terrorists and outlaws were neutralised across the country in 2024.

Speaking while reviewing the current government’s achievements, Matawalle attributed the enormous security improvements to the Tinubu administration’s revitalised operational methods and leadership concentration.

He noted that, in addition to the executions, nearly 11,600 criminals were arrested, and security personnel seized more than 10,000 illegal firearms from various theatres of operation across the country.

Patience Ituke issued a statement on Monday on behalf of the Director of Information and Public Relations at the Ministry of Defence.

Matawalle underlined that the administration’s success in combating terrorism and banditry, among other successes, will secure the president’s second term in 2027.

Bello Matawalle praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s transformative policies, stating that they will lead to a better future for Nigeria and maybe secure Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.”Minister Matawalle emphasised numerous major achievements of President Tinubu’s government, particularly in terms of security and defence.

“He cited the effective neutralisation of almost 8,000 terrorists and bandits, the arrest of 11,600 criminals, and the recovery of more than 10,000 firearms in 2024.

The Multi-Agency Anti-Kidnap Fusion Cell improved strategic coordination in combating abduction.

He also cited other Tinubu administration accomplishments, such as the formation of the Ministry of Livestock Development, which he claims is already helping to lower grain costs and increase agricultural production in the North.

“Matawalle also praised the government’s economic measures, particularly the establishment of the Ministry of Livestock Development, which intends to unlock the North’s agricultural potential, boost economic growth, and empower millions of inhabitants.

He cited the recent drop in grain prices across the country as proof of the success of the government’s agriculture programs.”In terms of infrastructure, he identified ongoing road development and transit network enhancements as important drivers of economic growth, particularly in underserved areas.

“Matawalle’s praise for President Tinubu’s performance goes beyond these specific areas, demonstrating his view that the President’s policies will have a long-term positive influence on the nation.

While he expressed confidence in Tinubu’s accomplishments, it is crucial to remember that his prediction of a second term victory in 2027 is based on the administration’s current performance.

His optimism demonstrates how Tinubu’s leadership and vision benefit the Nigerian people, the statement stated.
