Judicial workers suspend strike,  resume work Wednesday.

The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has called off its ongoing strike and asked its members to return to work on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

According to a communique issued and signed by the association’s National Vice President and ten other members of its leadership, the decision to end the strike came after long deliberations on the issues that prompted the strike, as well as a series of meetings on Tuesday with representatives of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, and other relevant stakeholders.

The parties agreed that JUSUN should comply with the involvement of the CJN and Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Dingyadi; the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC); and other stakeholders.

The accord said that suspending the strike would allow the union to contact the federal government to ensure that monies were released to the judiciary within a month.

The document additionally stated that “upon the release of the funds to the Judiciary, the demands by the JUSUN implementation of the N70,000 new minimum wage and its arrears, 25/35% salary increase and 5-month wage award and their arrears will be implemented immediately” .

Apart from the JUSUN National Vice President, the communique was signed by the National Assistant Financial Secretary and the Chairmen of the JUSUN chapters of the Federal Judicial Service Commission (FJSC), Court of Appeal, Federal High Court, National Industrial Court, National Judicial Institute, FCT High Court, FCT Sharia and Customary Court, and the FCT Judicial Service Commission.
