2027: APC Kaduna endorses Tinubu,Sani for second term.
The All Progressives Congress in Kaduna North Senatorial District, also known as Zone 1, has endorsed President Bola Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani, and Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas for second terms ahead of the 2027 election.
According to a statement issued in Kaduna on Sunday by Kaduna State Secretary to the Government, Dr. Abdulkadir Muazu Meyere, the decision was made during a stakeholders meeting held on Saturday in Zaria, Kaduna State.
During the meeting, stakeholders such as former governors, serving and former ministers, members of the National and State Houses of Assembly, ambassadors, commissioners, heads of federal and state government departments and agencies, and party leaders gathered in the auditorium of the Federal University of Education in Zaria.
At the conference, stakeholders took turns outlining the APC-led administration’s accomplishments at the federal and state levels, as well as the enormous strides of Tinubu, Sani, and Abbas, respectively. Party members were forcefully exhorted to maintain the APC’s unity for greater success in the 2027 general elections.
Balarabe Lawal Abbas, Minister of Environment, stated that the APC can only attain the desired success in the 2027 general elections if it works together as a team.
He underlined that the president has proved his affection for the people of Kaduna State through a number of projects, as well as by supporting Tajudeen Abbas’ election as Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The minister, on the other hand, stated that the greatest way for Kaduna, particularly the people of Zone 1, to repay the president’s gesture of affection was to ensure that the APC won all elective posts in the state, from the presidency to state assembly seats, in 2027.
He cited Tinubu’s recent re-awarding of the once-dreaded Abuja-Kaduna road, where robbers used to stalk down travellers, and his directive that the projects be completed within six months.
He also informed the audience that the president has equally granted the building of the Zaria-Sokoto road and commanded that it be completed in six months.
Minister Abbas, on the other hand, cautioned the people of Zone 1 and Kaduna State in general to avoid the ‘blind horse’ that has been galloping around but has failed to lead them anywhere.
There was speculation that he was referring to former governor Nasir El-Rufai’s new party, the Social Democratic Party, which features the “horse” logo.
Addressing the audience, Speaker Abbas stated that over billion dollars have been set aside in the 2025 federal budget for projects in the eight local government areas that comprise Kaduna State Zone 1, while funds close to that amount have also been voted for projects at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Kaduna State University, and Gidan Waya College of Education, among others.
The speaker also revealed that farm inputs, equipment, and seedings would be distributed to thousands of farmers across Zone 1’s eight local government areas in the coming weeks, as well as seats for stakeholders in the zone to attend the Hajj and Jerusalem pilgrimages to pray for Nigeria.
Abbas, who thanked the president and the state governor for their assistance in his election as speaker of the House of Representatives, insisted that the best way to thank them was to mobilise voters and ensure their re-election, adding that only by ensuring their success could his own good work continue.
He did, however, call for the continuation of regular party meetings at the ward, local government, and zonal levels to consider the way forward, and he charged all elected and appointed members of the party to utilise their positions for the benefit of all members rather than for their own personal gain.
Earlier in his speech, Senator Suleiman Uthman Hunkuyi stated that the opposition parties lack the quality of leaders showcased by the APC; hence, APC members must reject the opposition’s theatrics, which want them to feel that their leaders are not good enough.
Former Governor Yero, who urged for a house-to-house campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections, stated, “Zone 1 is the nucleus of Kaduna politics, and the APC leaders and members must mobilise effectively to help the trio, Tinubu, Sani, and Speaker Abbas, retain their seats.”
Earlier in his speech, Dr. Abdulkadiri Meyere, Secretary to the Government of Kaduna State, stated that Zone One (North) is the most blessed of the state’s three zones, as it is home to several significant party figures such as the Speaker and the Minister of Environment, among others.
As a result, he urged party members in the zone to pledge unwavering support to the APC in order for it to win the national elections in 2027.
Alhaji Mohammed Datti Babawo, the National Vice Chairman (North West) of the APC, praised President Tinubu, Sani, and Abbas, whom he described as a silent “achiever” given the numerous federal projects attracted to Kaduna State and the North West in general, and recalled how the speaker recently averted a crisis in the composition of the North West Development Commission.
He stated that the APC at the national level would soon implement computerised registration to ensure accurate data on its membership nationally.
Stakeholders unanimously adopted motions to endorse Tinubu, Sani, and Abbas as the APC’s sole candidates for their respective offices.
