FG, States, LGs Share ₦1.659trn May Revenue — FAAC
In May 2025, the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) disbursed ₦1.659 trillion in revenue to the Federal Government, state, and municipal governments.
The payout followed the FAAC meeting in Abuja in June 2025.
The meeting’s communiqué revealed that the total distributable revenue was ₦863.895 billion from statutory sources, ₦691.714 billion from VAT, ₦27.667 billion from EMTL, and ₦76.614 billion from Exchange Difference.
The Federal Government received ₦538.004 billion, states received ₦577.841 billion, and local government councils received ₦419.968 billion of the total ₦1.659 trillion. Additionally, 13% of mineral earnings (₦124.076 billion) was distributed to oil-producing states as derivation money.
The communiqué reported that of the statutory revenue of ₦863.895 billion, the Federal Government received ₦393.518 billion, states received ₦199.598 billion, and local governments received ₦153.881 billion. Oil-producing states received an additional ₦116.898 billion in derivation money.
The Federal Government received ₦103.757 billion of the ₦691.714 billion in VAT revenue, while states and local governments received ₦345.857 billion and ₦242.100 billion, respectively.
The EMTL revenue totalled ₦27.667 billion, with the Federal Government receiving ₦4.150 billion, states receiving ₦13.833 billion, and local councils receiving ₦9.683 billion.
According to the FAAC communiqué, the Federal Government received ₦36.579 billion, states received ₦18.553 billion, and local government councils received ₦14.304 billion of the ₦76.614 billion Exchange Difference revenue. Oil-producing states received an additional ₦7.178 billion, accounting about 13% of the total.
In May, gross income was ₦2.942 trillion, after deducting ₦111.908 billion for collection costs and allocating ₦1.171 trillion for transfers, interventions and refunds.
According to a statement signed by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, gross statutory income in May was ₦2.094 trillion, up ₦10.023 billion from the previous month’s ₦2.084 trillion.
In May, VAT revenue increased by ₦100.555 billion from ₦642.265 billion in April, reaching ₦742.820 billion.
“Companies Income Tax (CIT), Value Added Tax (VAT), and Import Duty all rose significantly in May, whereas CET charges, Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT), Oil and Gas Royalties, and the EMTL fell. Excise duty increased somewhat, according to the communiqué.
