PENGASSAN Halts Nationwide Strike After Talks with NSA, Dangote Refinery
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has suspended its nationwide strike action.
PENGASSAN President, Festus Osifo, announced the decision at a press conference held in Abuja, following high-level talks with the National Security Adviser (NSA) and representatives of Dangote Refinery.
Osifo stated that while the strike was called off in the spirit of goodwill, several unresolved issues remain in the communiqué issued after the meeting. He noted that both the government and the refinery’s management were unable to provide full clarity on certain “grey areas.”
Despite these concerns, the union chose to suspend the strike in hopes of constructive engagement moving forward.
However, Osifo cautioned that PENGASSAN would not hesitate to resume industrial action without prior notice should Dangote Refinery fail to honour the terms of the agreement reached.
