Adamawa Governor reaffirms commitment to education, denies ordering school closure

The Adamawa State Government has firmly shut down swirling rumours that schools had been ordered to close, calling the claims nothing more than mischief wrapped in falsehood.

In a statement on Friday, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said his administration never issued any directive to halt academic activities, describing the viral reports as “malicious, baseless, and engineered to cause unnecessary panic.”

Fintiri urged parents, pupils and school administrators to carry on with learning as usual, insisting that the state’s academic calendar remains untouched.

He warned that the government would deal decisively with anyone attempting to destabilise the state through the spread of misinformation, saying such acts are aimed at undermining the progress made so far.

According to the governor, his administration has invested heavily in reviving the education sector — from infrastructure to policy reforms — and remains committed to giving every child access to quality learning.

He called on residents to disregard the rumour and instead support the government’s ongoing efforts to build a safer, more progressive Adamawa.

Fintiri emphasised that the state is pushing towards becoming a hub of academic excellence, and vowed that those caught deliberately spreading false news would face the full weight of the law.
