EFCC summons former AGF Malami for questioning

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has summoned Nigeria’s former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, for questioning.

According to an invitation letter dated November 24, Malami is expected to appear before investigators on Friday, November 28, at the agency’s headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.

The EFCC said the meeting was necessary to obtain “certain information” from the former minister, though it did not disclose the specific allegations or issue under investigation.

The letter, signed by Sunday Atiba Ofen-Imu on behalf of EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede, cited Section 38(1) and (2) of the EFCC Establishment Act, 2024, and urged Malami to meet with officials of the Special Duty Committee-3.

Malami has confirmed receiving the invitation and says he will honour it.

In a statement issued on Friday, he described himself as a law-abiding citizen and maintained that he has always supported transparency in public office.

He said he remains committed to accountability and added that he would keep Nigerians informed as developments unfold.

Malami served as Attorney-General and Minister of Justice during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
