Adamawa ex-pension boss Thomas Madi loses wife

A former executive chairman of the Adamawa State Pension Board, Thomas Madi, is mourning the death of his wife, Rose Thomas Madi, who died after a brief illness.

Family members said Rose died in Yola last Friday, surrounded by relatives. She was described as a devoted mother and a community-minded figure whose quiet philanthropy reached vulnerable families in Jimeta and neighbouring communities.

Madi, who oversaw the state pension board during a period of reforms and administrative restructuring, has been receiving sympathisers at the family residence in Karewa. Former colleagues, political associates and traditional leaders have visited to offer condolences.

In a statement released on behalf of the family, Madi said: “Rose was a pillar of strength to me and the children, and a compassionate presence to many widows and elderly people in the community. Her loss is profound and deeply felt.”

Neighbours and associates recalled her involvement in faith-based and women-led initiatives, noting that she regularly supported outreach programmes for elderly residents and low-income households.

The family said a service of songs would be held at the family compound in Karewa, Jimeta, Yola, on 19 February 2026 at 4pm. Burial will follow in Bazza, Michika local government area of Adamawa state.
