Gov. Fintiri condemns attacks in Madagali,Hong vows decisive action

The governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has condemned recent attacks on communities in Madagali and Hong local government areas, describing them as “cowardly acts of terrorism” that will not be tolerated.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Tuesday by the chief press to the governor, Humwashi Wonosoiku, Fintiri said the assaults were a direct attempt to destabilise communities that have worked hard to rebuild their lives after years of insurgency in the north-east.

“We will not let terrorists undermine our efforts to restore peace and stability,” the governor said. “I warn the perpetrators to desist from these senseless attacks or face the full weight of our collective resolve.”

Madagali and Hong, both of which have experienced repeated insurgent violence in the past, have seen renewed security concerns in recent days. While details of casualties were still being compiled at the time of filing this report, local sources said several residents were forced to flee their homes.

Fintiri reassured citizens that his administration remained firmly committed to defeating terrorism and safeguarding lives and property across the state.

“We have done this before, and we are determined to do it again,” he said, referring to previous operations that restored relative calm in affected areas. “Our government will continue to work closely with security agencies to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.”

The governor also sought to calm public fears, urging residents not to succumb to panic or suspend their daily activities.

“I urge our people to go about their lawful businesses without fear,” he said. “We have your back. We will protect you and your livelihoods.”

He commended members of the armed forces and other security personnel for what he described as their dedication and bravery in confronting violent groups operating in parts of the state. He pledged continued logistical and moral support from the state government to strengthen their operations.

Fintiri appealed to community leaders, youth groups and residents to cooperate with security agencies by sharing credible information that could help prevent further attacks.

“Terrorism thrives where communities are divided and silent,” he said. “Together, we will triumph over terrorism and build a brighter future for Adamawa.”

The renewed violence underscores the fragile security situation in parts of the north-east, where authorities continue to battle insurgent factions despite years of military campaigns.
