Adamawa 2027: Galadima unknown to us, must account for PTDF tenure
A political group in Adamawa State has said Tijjani Galadima remains largely unknown to many residents, urging him to give a full account of his stewardship at the Petroleum Technology Development Fund amid growing speculation ahead of the 2027 elections.
The group, in a statement issued on Friday, said that while individuals are free to aspire to public office, credibility and track record must form the basis of public trust. It argued that Galadima’s alleged role at the PTDF places a responsibility on him to explain his contributions and achievements during his time at the agency.
According to the group, voters in Adamawa deserve clarity on the records of those seeking leadership positions, especially as political activities gradually build up towards the next electoral cycle. It added that public accountability remains a cornerstone of democratic governance.
The statement further noted that Galadima’s visibility in the state’s political space has been limited, insisting that anyone seeking the mandate of the people must engage more directly with grassroots communities and stakeholders.
It called on the aspirant to outline his vision for Adamawa and demonstrate how his past experience, particularly at the PTDF, translates into capacity for leadership.
The group emphasised that the demand for accountability is not targeted at any individual but reflects a broader expectation that all aspirants must be transparent about their public service records.
It also urged political actors in the state to focus on issue-based campaigns, warning against attempts to rely solely on political alliances or name recognition without clear policy direction.
As the 2027 elections approach, the group said Adamawa voters are increasingly interested in competence, integrity and verifiable performance, adding that aspirants must be prepared to meet those expectations.
