Nigeria’s diversity is strength, says Fintiri in Eid message
Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has urged Nigerians to embrace tolerance and unity despite ethnic and religious differences, stressing that national cohesion remains vital to overcoming the country’s challenges.
In a statement issued by his chief press secretary, Humwashi Wonosoiku, the governor said the spirit of unity and peaceful coexistence must extend beyond religious celebrations, noting that Nigeria’s strength lies in its diversity. He called on citizens to use the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr to reflect on shared values and work collectively towards national development.
While wishing residents of Adamawa a happy Eid-el-Fitr, Fintiri said unity and tolerance are essential to building a strong and prosperous nation. According to him, embracing peace, fairness and mutual respect will help pave the way for Nigeria’s rebirth.
He urged Nigerians to imbibe the values of love, tolerance, forgiveness and brotherhood exemplified during the holy month of Ramadan, adding that meaningful progress can only be achieved when citizens prioritise harmonious coexistence and collective responsibility. ✨
The governor, who expressed concern over recent developments in parts of the country, appealed to traditional and religious leaders to intensify efforts to promote vigilance and security consciousness during and after the Sallah festivities. He also cautioned citizens to remain mindful of their safety and, where necessary, avoid crowded places. ⚠️
Fintiri noted that Eid-el-Fitr symbolises love, compassion and devotion to Allah, as well as respect for fellow human beings, stressing that such virtues are essential to building the nation Nigerians aspire to.
He commended the people of Adamawa for maintaining peaceful coexistence despite their diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds, describing the state as a model of unity in diversity. 🤝
Despite prevailing economic challenges, the governor said the state has recorded appreciable development over the past seven years, and urged citizens to continue supporting government policies and programmes aimed at inclusive growth and sustainable development.
Fintiri also praised security agencies for their commitment to maintaining peace and stability across the state, expressing optimism that greater progress can be achieved through sustained collaboration between government and the people
