Adamawa APC youths endorse Bakari as Fintiri’s successor
Youth members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa have endorsed Salihu Bakari as their preferred candidate to succeed Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The group said its decision followed consultations across the state, citing Bakari’s experience in public service and his perceived capacity to unite diverse communities.
In a statement, the youth leader, who is also a chieftain of the All Progressive congress in Adamawa, Abubakar Song described Bakari as a “bridge-builder” with a track record of inclusivity, adding that Adamawa requires a leader who can sustain stability while promoting equitable representation.
They urged party stakeholders to support his ambition, arguing that his candidacy would strengthen the APC’s chances of reclaiming power in the state.
The endorsement comes amid growing political activity within the party, as aspirants begin to position themselves ahead of the primaries expected to be held in line with the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Observers say the coming months will be critical as the APC navigates internal alignments and builds consensus around a candidate capable of mounting a strong challenge in the election.
