Governor Fintiri distances himself from PDP move to expel Wike

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has distanced himself from the People’s Democratic Party’s controversial decision to expel Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.

Fintiri, who is also the Chairman of the PDP’s 2025 elective national convention committee, stressed that the move was not in the best interests of the party, warning it could trigger yet another round of chaos for the already embattled opposition.

In a firm statement, the governor declared: “As a faithful party member, my position is clear: I stand for the peace and stability of the PDP, and I will not support anything that could lead to its disintegration.”

With the PDP still struggling to recover from post-election divisions, Fintiri called for calm and urged stakeholders to prioritise reconciliation.

He added: “I believe that peace and reconciliation are the only ways forward for our great party.”

Fintiri vowed to continue working toward unity within the PDP, reiterating that his actions are driven by a commitment to stability and progress.

As tensions simmer within the party, his intervention may be seen as a bid to prevent a total implosion — and draw a line under what has become a season of political bloodletting.
