Wonosoiku said Fintiri “sought the support of the Canadian Government for the initiative”, including assistance with visa facilitation for the prospective students.

The proposed scholarship programme forms part of the administration’s efforts to equip young people with advanced scientific and technological skills to promote innovation, employment and sustainable development.

Wonosoiku said the governor discussed possible Canadian assistance for the Adamawa College of Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Gulak, alongside investment opportunities in renewable energy.

He said Adamawa’s abundant sunshine offered opportunities for solar energy development, with the state seeking Canadian expertise and investment to strengthen the sector.

According to the statement, Fintiri reiterated his administration’s commitment to developing human capital through education and international partnerships, particularly in science and technology.

The discussions also explored opportunities for cooperation in developing educational institutions and attracting investment into key sectors of the state’s economy.

The governor was accompanied by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr Garba Umar Pella, and the Director of the Adamawa State Scholarship Trust Fund.

The proposed programme remains unconfirmed, with no formal announcement of scholarship awards or a funding agreement with the Canadian government.
