Adamawa rerun, an exercise in futility – CSO

The Northeast Zonal office of the justice for all has described the recent Inec decision to proceed to organize the rerun election in 14 local councils of Adamawa as”an exercise in futility.”

Alhaji Abdulmana Mohammed, the Zonal Organising Secretary of the group made this known in an interview with Journalists in Bauchi on Sunday.

He said the decision of Inec to conduct the supplementary election despite the mistake of failing to include the logo of the candidate of the MRDD in Adamawa State is null and void and that any of the candidate that emerged as the winner by Inec on 23 March, will definitely face another election as the supreme court decision and the position of the law on missing logo is clear, we expect Inec to tender apologies to the leadership of MRDD and cancel the entire election and organized a new one with MRDD logo, not carrying out impunity of going ahead with the plan rerun.

According to him, Adamawa residents should keep calm and see how Inec will carry out the plan impunity of the rerun, we are saddened that Barr. Gaidam who is a lawyer was quoted to have dismissed the injunction of a competent court of jurisdiction.

“We are advising whoever emerged from the plan rerun election to bear it at the back of his mind that the election will be nullified as Inec itself knows the consequence of not including the logo of the MRDD will definitely lead to the cancellation of the entire execercise.

We are advising Adamawa APC not to participate in the kangaroo rerun election as it will not see the light of the day. It is left for Inec to appear before the court on Thursday and explain why the logo of MRDD was not included in the ballot papers”.

“We may have same scenario with Rivers State APC, they disregard the order of the high court not to go ahead with the primaries, which was flouted and consequently  barred from fielding candidate for 2019 general elections.
