Bindow congratulates Fintiri, concedes defeat

erstwhile speaker of the Adamawa State House of assembly, Hon. Umaru Fintiri, was, yesterday, returned to power in a historic election that saw the defeat of an incumbent governor in the history of democratic rule in Adamawa State. Gov. Jibrilla Bindow, candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, hours later conceded defeat, in a press statement personally signed by the Governor, he expressed gratitude to the people of Adamawa State for giving him the opportunity to serve them in the last four years.

The Statement read in parts:

‘My dear people of Adamawa State, as you know, the 2019 governorship elections have been concluded. I believe that God is the giver of power to whom he wants at the time he wants. I reamin grateful to him for giving me the oppoturnity to serve as your Governor these past four years.

‘As a democrat, I cherish democratic norms and values, as it is practiced in the civilized world.  Inview of the outcome and the declaratoion of the results by Inec, I wish to congratulates the governor elect Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri over his election as the incoming Governor of Adamawa and wish him a successful tenure.

‘My actions as your governor in the last four years were with the best intensions and I remain grateful to the people of Adamawa State for the mandate given to me to serve them, and if on the contrary I take full responsibility.

‘I wish Adamawa State peaceful transition and progress in the years ahead.
