Leave Bindow out Of Your Incompetence, Ikwuruni Tells Fintiri’s transition committee

The former secretary of Justice Frontiers, Mr. Mapida Ikwurunyi said Fintiri transition committee is the most incompetent group to have been selected by the Governor elect, Ikwurunyi wonder why some of this committee members will go on Tv to make bogus claims of trying to mislead the public about Bindow’s administration.

Ikwurunyi who was reacting to the allegation by one of the member of Fintiri committee, Mr. Victor Dogo, penultimate sunday on Tv Gotel, that Gov. Bindow has become a clog to wheel of progress in Adamawa State by performing his constitutional duty as Governor of the State.

The former secretary, in a statement by his media aide, peter Pwasato told newsmen that, no amount of campaign of calumny that will derail Gov. Bindow from carrying out his duty as governor till the end of time and that most members of Fintiri committee are incompetent to advice the governor elect going by what Mr. Victor Dogo said on tv Gotel penultimate Sunday.

“As strange as that particular assertion may sound, it still beggars belief that a member of a transition committee would still be looking for a scapegoat for the incoming administration’s failure, at a time they should be thinking of how to pay the 32000 minimum wage they promise the people.

“That amounts to merely clutching at straws,” Ikwurunyi said.

He noted that someone like Musa Kaibo, whom he said, has been around the corridors of power for that long, should understand governments’ basic functions and procedures.

“Handover notes, being transitioning documents, are usually received by an incoming president from his predecessor at the time of change of government.

“It is not a document that guides a governor to appoint his commissioners. this committee is on auto pilot, if not how can a member of a transition committee that is under a chairman goes to the press to speak as an indvidual?

“Under normal circumstances, an elected governor waiting for inauguration needs the support of his commissioners, who would handle different departments of government, to study and understand his handover notes for effective performance of his initial duties.

“Those who think like Victor Dogo that a government would not function properly if it does not receive handover notes in time, should be reminded that there is no law establishing the process.

“It is simply a matter of convenience for an outgoing governor to develop handover notes to guide his successor understand key issues and hit the ground running,” the former secretary said.

Ikwurunyi recalled that he set up a transition team that produced the handover document which Fintiri will receive ahead of his inauguration, adding that anyone who uses his been a member of Fintiri committee to make unguarded statements about Bindow’s government only shows their ineptitude to the public.

“Sometimes, when members of Fintiri transition commitee speak, they come across as people who are unaware of the fact that, under our laws, an administration is elected for tenure of four years within which it is expected to have fulfilled its campaign promises, before returning to the electorate for a fresh mandate.

“In case he does not know, Victor Dogo should be reminded that blaming others for one’s failures is not a prove of performance.

“Assuming, without out conceding, that the Bindow administration was as bad as they want Adamawa to believe, is it not a fact of governance that it is the duty of every responsible administration to seek to make better the situation it met on ground?” he added.

According to him, while the governor elect is set to blame Bindow’s administration for its failure to deliver on their mandate, there are many Nigerian success stories that proved that a progress-minded administration has no business focusing only on the past.

“As the Bindow government nears its end, the minders of the governor elect administration should please tell Nigerians what new projects, programmes and institutions for good governance they plan to add to those established by the various administrations of the All Progressive Congress, since they are warming up to take over office on May 29, 2015,” Ikwurunyi demanded.
