April/May salaries: Zenith Bank refuse to honour Gov. Bindow’s approval for salary payment

The Management of Zenith bank Yola branch, had left  Commissioner of Finance,  Mahmoud Yunusa,  stranded at the bank premises when he stormed the bank to inquire over non payment of April and May salaries of Adamawa state civil servants. The commissioner collected a letter by Gov Bindow directing the bank to pay the two months salaries from the state government account domiciled with bank.

However, the bank, it was gathered, refused to obey the instruction. The bank officials closed operations before official time on sighting the commissioner. Speaking to Journalists, Yunusa alleged that the management of the bank on three ocassions refused to release funds for the payment of April and May salaries for workers in the state.

Although officials of the bank declined to speak to our correspondent, the state Assembly however  summoned the management of the bank to appear before it today to explain why civil salaries were not paid after receipt of remittance of allocation from the federal government.
