Group Petitions EFCC, ICPC Seeks refund of salaries collected by Adsu management after six months of acting recognised by Law

The Centre for leader’s evaluation and accountability forum has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and Independent Corrupt Practices And Other Related Offences Commission    to probe the management of Adamawa state University, Mubi over the spending of all TETFUND grants to the university from 2017 till date and also to recover all the salaries collected by the management of the university outside the six months envisage by law regarding any acting position in Nigeria.

The Finder recalls that a civil society wrote to the university management of ADSU, Mubi demanding to know the total amount granted to the university by TETFUND, a demand the acting Vice chancellor of the university, Prof. Kaletapwa refuse to accede to, through freedom of information.

In a petition obtained by The Finder on Thursday, the group want all the salaries collected by the university management that continue to act illegally to  be return by the management staff of the university that exceeded the six months universally known for any acting position.

“In the light of these developments and their implications for the legitimacy of the continuous stay in office by ADSU management, and by extension the anti-corruption crusade, CLEAF calls for a robust, painstaking and thorough investigation of these claims with a view to verifying whether they are true or false.

“This step from your honourable commission is critical, and will help clear the air, and douse the suspicion, which the allegations have precipitated since they began circulating.

“If ADSU Management is culpable as widely published on different news platforms pertaining their continuous stay in office which is illegal as these allegations claim, then they should be made to return all the salaries collected by the management staff of the university as their current position of acting is not known to ADSU law and they should be made to face the consequences of such culpability.

“it will do a lot of good to state government if money running into million is recovered from the management that continue to act illegally in defiant of the law setting up the university and six months envisaged by the interpretation act for acting positions’.

“it will do a lot of good for the state government and will eventually boost the IGR of the state, if the salaries collected illegally is return to the state government coffer as the VC of the university takes home over a million naira monthly also the Bursar, registrar and the Liberian of the university takes over 700 thousand naira home monthly as salary’.
