The Adamawa Movement initiative (AMI), has urged the state governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, stop the administration’s harassment of the immediate past governor, Sen. Umaru Jibrilla Bindow as the group says it won’t work in Adamawa’s best interest.

The group also urged Fintiri to immediately relieve himself of the egoistic outburst against Bindow who has transformed state from being a rural state capital to a modern city that can compete with other states capital in Nigeria within four years.

Fintiri, has come under severe criticisms over his recent directive that Bindow must be probe.

But a cross section of Adamawa indigenes, have condemned the Fintiri’s outburst, describing it as pedestrian and unpopular.

AMI’s coordinator, Usman Abubakar Dan Mai Shanu, insisted that Fintiri, is not acting in the best interest of the present administration and Adamawa people, but hiding under the cloak of government to settle personal scores with his perceived political enemies, especially the former governor.

According to him, Fintiri has done more harm than good to the nascent administration, adding that he has almost totally usurped the powers of the court that has power to pronounce one guilty and not guilty.

He described him as a power drunk politician and a chauvinist who is “blinded by inordinate ambition”.

A statement issued by the group read, “The governor needs to rise up to the occasion and take charge of governing the state, he was entrusted with the mandate not to blame and tarnish the image of Bindow. His attitude and utterances have utterly embarrassed his administration and the entire Adamawa people.

“Fintiri has completely abandoned his responsibility of providing democracy dividend to the people to engaged in mudslinging against Bindow, Fintiri must be reminded that most of his appointments in the first place was a political miscalculation, as Fintiri has not buried his age long flexing of muscle with his predecessors in office and will take all available opportunity to advance it.

“We are calling on the governor to quickly rescind his ill conceive idea of probing Bindow without recourse to probing how Adamawa state was fleece of billions of naira in 2014, if Bindow must be probe which we are confident is records are clean, 2014 must also come under intense scrutiny ”.
