FACTS-FIRST: Documents show Senator Abbo not Fintiri lobbied for restoration of power supply to Michika and Madagali

The claim by Gov. Fintiri of Adamawa state that his government has resolve to restore power supply to Michika and Madagali to the two council area ravaged by Boko insurgency is false, an investigation by THE FINDER has shown.

Also untrue, our findings show, is Mr. Fintiri’s claim that his government plan to connect Michika and Madagali back to national grid.

In a controversial facebook post, Mr. Kushi George, media aide attached to the office of the deputy governor wrote: “Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri received Michika community today assures them of governments resolve on the possibility of restoring power supply in Michika and Madagali via the national grid.

He further promised to stem the tide of insecurity in the area by working in synergy with security”.

But in a curious move, Senator Ishaku Abbo, representing Adamawa north on his Facebook page debunked the governor’s claim on restoring power back to Michika and Madagali as Abbo in series of post displayed documents to counter the governor’s claim as far as the power restoration to Michika is concern.

Abbo wrote: I want to appreciate the President and C in C President Muhammadu Buhari and the Board and management of NEDC for magnanimously approving the complete rehabilitation of electric/ power infrastructure and reconnection of Michika and Madagali and other 46 communities to the National grid. Mr. President, Thankyou Sir.

Recall that after 5 years in darkness, I undertook Initial assessment of Michika and Madagali and 46 communities which was concluded ahead of the December target and approval from the Ministry of Power was sought just to inform the authorities”.

But THE FINDER can report authoritatively today that Mr. Fintiri was economical with the truth as far as this particular plan to restore power to Michika and Madagali is concerned.

The contract was lobbied by Senator Abbo not Fintiri as posted on social media

In Abbo’s memo to ministry for power, sighted by this newspaper, Mr. Abbo actually lobbied for the restoration of power to these two communities in Adamawa not Fintiri.

CONCLUSION: Mr. Fintiri’s claim to restore power to Michika and Madagali is inaccurate.
