Despite not owning or contributing to any property own by individual in Adamawa state, Gov. Fintiri of Adamawa state caught in another failed promise of reducing house and shop rent to 50 percent to cushion the effect of corona virus pandemic in Nigeria.
The governor in a press this afternoon told news men that; “government is aware of the impact of the economic implication of the current meltdown on informal business, where majority of the citizens are involved and has graciously approved another fifty per cent reduction in taxes, to cushion the effect of the alarming economic challenge of COVID-9, government has agreed on fifty per cent reduction in the cost of house rent, commercial shops, and business premises”.
The legality of the purported promise of house and shop rent deduction by the governor is questionable and there is currently no law in Adamawa that give power of fixing house or shop rent to the governor.
According to the Finder fact check, Fintiri has made about one thousand (1000) failed promises and one thousand five hundred and fifty six (1.556) false claims.
