Fintiri is desperately seeking to avoid blame as one year approaches without anything to show

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has royally screwed up his administration blame game response to governance as his one year approaches without any single project commission, and he knows it. And he’s doing what he always does: Instead of fixing any of the many problems he’s caused since 2014 when he was acting governor, he’s trying to weasel his way out of blame and doing all he can to dodge oversight and responsibility.

Immediately Fintiri was sworn into office he order the sack of about ten thousand workers hiding under the alibi of “lack of due process”, in 2014 Fintiri bitterly complain about Nyako’s style of governance and subsequently plotted his removal from office, here we are with same man that claim he has solution to the state problems and end up making Bindow a super hero due to his failure in office as we approach one year next month.

This isn’t just about the specter of the Governor potentially attempting to assert free rein over the outlay of taxpayer-fund. Adamawa resident’s lives are at stake. The health of our economy — not just winning leadership award, but the livelihoods of tens of millions of Adamawa residence, and our basic ability to put food on our tables and care for our families — is at risk.

it’s disturbing that Adamawa residents now may have to worry that our Governor and his cronies could turn a relief package into a vehicle for self-dealing and a sweetheart deal for the rich, but here we are.

But in Fintiriland, such competence and expertise aren’t a requirement but a barrier, especially when it comes to oversight duties. The incompetent man at the top is desperate not to have his inadequacy revealed.

In a transparently vindictive move, he also removed deputy perm. Secs in the state. Fintiri doesn’t like being held responsible for his actions, so several civil servants were out.

On several occasions Fintiri also attacked his predecessor for his own failure to continue with the good job started by Sen. Bindow. There are widespread delays in building the 2000 housing units that 9.9 billion naira was collected for and thousands of failed promises made by Fintiri since he came on board, the governors claim of paying 1.1 billion naira monthly to repay loans collected by Bindow’s administration. None of this is news to anyone. But Fintiri’s aides nonetheless argued that the report was “Another Fake Dossier!”

Fintiri seems to fancy himself more of a king than a Governor. The same man who once pledged to “drain the swamp in Adamawa” seems to love mucking around in it, and attacks his predecessor who tries to clean it up.

No administration is perfect — remember the urban renewal projects? Nobody expects error-free governance, but good leaders are able to deal with mistakes, swiftly correct them, and accept independent oversight. Anything else isn’t democracy, it’s dictatorship. Adamawa residents in urgent need of relief during and after the pandemic need to see this stimulus plan wisely and efficiently dispatched.

Ahmadu Fintiri could not care less about the health and well-being of the Adamawa people in this perilous time. He has no attachment to good governance, professional ethics, or public service. He doesn’t like independent watchdogs because they’re inconvenient for him; he prefers lapdogs. And so he is exploiting the pandemic to wreck hardship on the poorest of the poor that seek daily food from the streets of Yola.

The result won’t just be a swampier and more corrupt Dougirei government House. The Adamawa people may pay with our lives.
