COVID-19: Group disagree with Adamawa state government over new cases

The group has questioned the accuracy of the new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Adamawa announced by the Adamawa state government.

Following the announcement of new confirmed cases of COVID-19 by the Adamawa state government in its usual manner on press conference, the centre for leadership evaluation has questioned the accuracy of the information.

The Adamawa state government had announced that 4 new cases had been confirmed in Adamawa state, making it a total of 15 cases in which 4 of the new cases were discovered in Yola while the remaining two were confirmed in the outskirt.

The group has raised alarm over the alleged insistence of the state government to announce new cases instead of NCDC.

Speaking on Tuesday in Abuja, National Coordinator, CLEAF, Pwasaato Philip, advised Adamaw state government to channel its resources to developing the state, and wondered why Adamawa state government under Fintiri that could not deploy the few testing kits could announce new cases on daily bases.

Pwasato said: “Currently, most of the innocent victims seem to be the COVID-19 scarecrow used as an alibi by the state government to wow sympathy and attention.

“CLEAF expects that setting up testing centres in Adamawa should be the right step and right thing to do, instead of wasting scarce commodity and resources on areas of less concern.”
